Understanding art is something that must first be learnt.

It is by viewing art that we can delve into the deeper meanings of artworks and try to understand them more thoroughly. Such pastimes promote our powers of perception while enhancing our vocal articulation and creativity. Guided tours not only convey facts but address art in a way relevant to students’ personal experiences and their world.

The Kunstmuseum Bern’s permanent collection comprises artworks from the Middle Ages to the present. The museum focuses on male and female modern artists (Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Picasso among others) as well as Niklaus Manuel, Albert Anker, Ferdinand Hodler, Adolf Wölfli, and Meret Oppenheim.

Additionally, the Kunstmuseum presents a variety of major and smaller-scale temporary exhibitions. The collection and exhibitions deliver many avenues for studying artists’ works, art movements, or thematic foci – such as images of humanity, water, the four seasons, animals, disease, and color.

We provide guided tours for your classes in German, English, or French.
