Passage IV: Rudolf Durheim

Rudolf Durheim (1811-1895) is not one of the better-known Bernese artists of the nineteenth century. That his name has not been forgotten completely is thanks to the dedication of his friend Albert Anker, who after Durheim's death arranged for the Gottfried-Keller Foundation to purchase a group of his works.

Parallel to the exhibition In Search of the Orient. From Bellini to Klee  at the Zentrum Paul Klee (7. 2.-24. 5. 2009), in which also one painting by Durheim from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Bern is being shown, this presentation of the remaining body of works offers the opportunity to rediscover the oeuvre of this artist.
