Adolf Wölfli Foundation

The Adolf Wölfli Foundation was setup by Elka Spoerri (1924-2002) in 1975. Since then the foundation takes care of the administration of the legacy of the “author, artist, draftsman, and composer" Adolf Wölfli (1864-1930). Its holdings enjoy the eager hospitality of the Kunstmuseum Bern.

Initially Adolf Wölfli (1864-1930) was unquestionably an outsider in every way, whereas today his work is definitely one of the Kunstmuseum Bern’s highlights. Adolf Wölfli, a controversial figure as well as a singular and unique visionary, repeatedly challenged his viewers anew. His drawings and collages are today exhibited and collected all over the world, his texts are printed in remarkably diverse publications, and his visions continue to fascinate a great number of admirers. You can view Adolf Wölfli’s pictures throughout the year in temporary exhibitions of the Kunstmuseum Bern’s collection.
