The Johannes Itten Foundation

The Johannes Itten Foundation was set up in 1992 by Anneliese Itten, the artist’s widow. Comprising over 100 artworks by Johannes Itten, the foundation’s holdings are now deposited in the Kunstmuseum Bern. The items that deserve special mention include a group of works dating from 1907 through to 1919 that is highly representative of Itten’s art, the artist’s diaries, and not least, works by students attending his courses. The foundation’s goal is to preserve, research, and publish its holdings as well as establish an institution for the study of Johannes Itten's life and work providing access to the general public.
