Library
The library, now over 200 years old, is run by the Kunstmuseum Bern together with Bern University’s Art History Department (IKG). It is a major art-historical institution in Switzerland with extensive art-literature holdings while additionally accruing some 2,500 publications annually. And it is being expanded continually: The Kunstmuseum Bern’s acquisition foci entail oeuvre catalogues, artist monographs, exhibition and museum catalogues, as well as publications related in some way to the museum’s exhibitions and holdings in the fields of museology, art education, and restoration.
The library is open to all IKG students and staff, as well as to employees of the Kunstmuseum Bern and members of the Verein der Freunde and the Bernische Kunstgesellschaft. Others can use the library on Fridays between 9 a.m. and midday, but cannot borrow books.
