In the Cabinet: Bethan Huws. Watercolors
The Welsh artist Bethan Huws (*1961) is known mainly for her "Word Vitrines", readymades and objects. In addition to these, she continually produces autonomous works on paper which make up a group of their own.
Most of these works, apart from several abstract, almost geometrical sheets, exhibit a biographical reference. They draw on memories the artist has of her homeland, of things and people who are important to her.
The exhibition in the Cabinet presents a selection of watercolours and drawings dating from the years 1988 to 1997 which were purchased on the occasion of the solo-exhibition "Bethan Huws Watercolours" at the Kunstmuseum Bern in spring 1999.
