Visitors with disabilities

The Kunstmuseum Bern is committed to welcoming also visitors with disabilities. Our personnel and guards are only too happy to provide any assistance required, such as using our stair lifts. 

Borrow a wheelchair

Reduced entry fee
Reduced entry fees apply for visitors with disabilities as well as their escorts.

Access at the main entrance
At the main entrance a ramp provides access to visitors using wheelchairs.

Access to exhibitions and collections
Visitors with disabilities and visitors using wheelchairs have access to the entire Kunstmuseum Bern. A stair lift and a lift for visitors are available so that visitors with disabilities have access to all our special exhibitions and the entire permanent collection.

Access to the Café Kunstmuseum
The Café Kunstmuseum is readily accessible via stair lift.

Our floors are wheelchair friendly
All the floors in the exhibition and collection rooms of the Kunstmuseum Bern have either a stone or even granite floor. They are ideal for wheelchairs. Some of the thresholds between the rooms are slightly raised but can nevertheless be crossed without difficulty.

Toilets for visitors with disabilities
The Kunstmuseum Bern offers three toilets accessible to wheelchair users. The breadth of the doors are 79 cm or 90 cm, the height of toilets 42 cm or 45 cm, hinged supports and grab bars have been installed. Wheelchairs fit under the basins and the mirrors have been fitted low enough for visitors with wheelchairs.

For visitors with impaired vision and the blind 
Guide dogs are welcome in the Kunstmuseum Bern.

Travel to and from the Kunstmuseum Bern and parking areas
- If you wish to visit the Kunstmuseum using public transport then take the following buses that leave from Bahnhof Bern: No. 20 (direction: last stop Wyler) / No. 21 (direction: last station Bremgarten) / No. 11, (direction: last station Neufeld):Get out of the bus at the first stop, at “Bollwerk”, and walk in the same direction that the bus was traveling, and turn into the Hodlerstrasse. Continue on straight ahead for 50 m and then you will be directly at the Kunstmuseum entrance.
- If you wish to travel by car or use the bus for people with disabilities: next to the Kunstmuseum, behind the Metro Parking entrance, you will find a parking spot for the disabled (50 m from the main entrance). You will  find 3 more spots on the other side of the street.
