The Kunstmuseum Bern welcomes visitors with a disability. Our supervisory and security staff will be happy to help you at any time, for example with the operation of the stair lifts.

General information

    • Arrival by public transport: From Bern main station, you can take bus no. 20 in the direction of Wyler, no. 21 in the direction of Bremgarten or no. 11 in the direction of Neufeld to the next stop ‘Bollwerk’. From the bus stop it is only 50 metres to the main entrance. 
    • Access by car or disabled transportation: There is a marked disabled parking space next to the museum, behind the Metro Parking exit (50 m from the main entrance). Opposite the museum (on the opposite side of the street) there are 3 more disabled parking spaces.
  • Visitors with a disability card pay the reduced admission fee. One accompanying person per IV recipient is free of charge.

    • Wheelchairs: The Kunstmuseum Bern is wheelchair-accessible. There are stair lifts and a visitor lift. The museum provides a wheelchair that disabled visitors can borrow.
    • Floor conditions: All exhibition and collection rooms at the Kunstmuseum have a stone or lava stone floor. They are easily accessible by wheelchair. There is a small threshold at some of the entrances to individual rooms, but they can be passed without much difficulty.
    • Access to the main entrance: The main entrance is accessible for wheelchair users via a ramp.
    • Access to the Café Kunstmuseum Bern: Two stair lifts lead to the café.
  • The Kunstmuseum Bern is provided with three wheelchair-accessible toilets. Their door width is 79 cm and 90 cm respectively and the seat height is 42 cm and 45 cm respectively. A folding handle and a grab rail are available. The washbasin is wheelchair accessible and the mirror is positioned low.

    • Guide dogs are welcome at the Kunstmuseum Bern.
